Scotia Gems sources the majority of our stones from the Bay of Fundy and the surrounding area, making our jewelry and stones truly Nova Scotian, and giving our customers a piece of the province to take with them wherever they may go.

Many of our agate stones are found from a number of beautiful, pristine locations around the bay, including those seen here. Agate is formed from basalt in many instances, and we find the bulk of our agate gems on beaches in the area. We also find agate veins as well in our travels, as the bay area is known for its rich basalt geology. The bay is also known for its other unique features, including its Guinness Book of World Records status for having the world’s highest tides.

We often come across beautiful scenery when collecting new stones, including scenic vistas of the bay and unique waterfalls and pristine landscapes. We hope you enjoy these views as much as you’ll enjoy our handcrafted jewelry!
